Focus on Elie Saab

Recognised for his dreamy, 'im-in-a-fantasy' gowns, Lebanese born Elie Saab knows how to make a woman's heart melt. This couture season was no exception. Here we saw beads and crystals, but not used as heavily as is usually expected. New to the mix were subtle fur accents that added luxury (as if the show needed more of it). Yes, its a little repetitive at times, but seriously, can one resist such glamour and beauty? I certainly can't.
Here are a few of my favourites from the show:

Aim High @ The Amfar Gala

Some dazzled, others glowed.
They all had one thing in common, the fact that they each looked a million dollars.

Anna Beatriz Barros in Roberto Cavalli

Yes, it's the dress from the new fragrance campaign. And yes, she rocked it.

Diane Kruger in Chanel

Karl's muse and friend is ever loyal and ever beautiful.

Doutzen Kroes in Atelier Versace

A vision in white, Doutzen's still got it.

Lily Donaldson in J. Mendel

Ms Donaldson is all bronzed, bold and bejeweled.

Natasha Poly and Anja Rubik both in Emilio Pucci

Both girls opted for a sheer black number from Pucci, so I wonder, who won this battle of the ball-gowns?

Erin Wasson in Antonio Berardi

The mullet dress making headlines once again.

Liu Wen in Roberto Cavalli

A sea of blue makes its way across the room, it's Liu Wen.

Kirsten Dunst in Dolce & Gabbana and Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga

Kirsten and Kristen pose for the paparazzi.

Wow, these women really know how to dress for a Gala. This year, Roberto Cavalli and Emilio Pucci gowns were spotted most, as was anything sheer and sleek. Also, as usual, the go-to colour when in doubt was white. Some very pleased actresses and models, and some extremely pleased fans.

The Cannes Catch

Four stunning women who stole the show on the Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet:

Diane Kruger in Giambattista Valli

Freida Pinto in Atelier Versace

Eva Longoria in Marchesa

Natasha Poly in Gucci

In a nutshell, the stars seemed to want to venture into ice-cream colours and intricate embroidery this year, creating a dream-like effect on the red carpet. Well, if you think about it, their dreams are potentially going to come true if they win an award. Let's hope the above pictured ladies scored just as well for their acting as they did for their sense of style.

Pre-Fall Review: The Big Names (Part 5) - Spotlight on Roberto Cavalli

It's time to take some outfit inspiration from another great designer of our time, Mr Roberto Cavalli.

We generally associate the name Cavalli with animal prints and an earthy colour palette. This season was no exception. Cavalli's inspiration came from 1940s safari films, which meant there was an abundance of fur and leopard skin. He also made way for a few military inspired pieces, with strong tailoring and brass buttons. The collection began with a few luxe weekend ensembles and an almost sheer evening gown in leopard print. We then came across a pant-suit in a rich navy blue with embroidered pockets. But my favourite look? It would have to be the full bodysuit worn under a boyfriend blazer and topped off with shin-high boots. The effect was very 70s Hollywood meets 21st Century model-off-duty. In all, this collection was a complete wardrobe for the woman whose middle name is 'Wild One'.

Care for some Karlie?

Renowned for her cheeky smile and those pointy brows, Karlie Kloss is the model with the complete package. But what does she wear when shes not strutting down a runway? Here are a few of her key looks that us mere mortals can take inspiration from...

Karlie knows, no capsule wardrobe is complete without a leather jacket.

Steal Karlie's style in this Metalicus number (Rue Royal Tank Dress - $169.95).

Karlie rocks the monochrome look by colour matching her top to her shorts.

A sheer black blouse worn over a lacy bra is the new 'It' look.

Whether it be real or faux, a fur vest can lift any outfit.

Karlie opts for a bold red lip to complete her look.

Everyone needs a bright shirt-dress, even Karlie Kloss.

And finally, there are no words for this outfit except WOW!

Otherworldy Accessories

I couldn't help but drool a little when I first laid eyes on these indescribable shoes from the Dior catwalk. With their cotton-candy colours and toy-like design, these shoes are certainly pushing the envelope of functionality vs aesthetics. More importantly though, could I stroll down Pitt St in them?
Well, could you?
